BioWisdom CSO to Speak at DIA Conference
Julie Barnes PhD, CSO of BioWisdom Ltd, the market leader in delivering healthcare intelligence to the pharmaceutical industry, today presented at the Drug Information Association (DIA) conference in Madrid. The DIA conference is considering Pharmacovigilance (PV) and Clinical Data Management (CDM) and ways of managing safety data more effectively, with a specific focus on embracing new technologies for improving the processing and interpretation of adverse events. Dr Barnes is presenting on the current issues associated with the interpretation of safety data originating from preclinical safety assessments, clinical trials or post marketing pharmacovigilance studies. She looks specifically at Intelligence Networks, which provide a contextual and meaningful layer onto data and information generated during the preclinical, clinical and post-marketing phases of R&D. Intelligence Networks can be used to identify risk factors for adverse events, aid the design of clinical trials and assist in the interpretation of safety signals seen in clinical trials and pharmacovigilance studies. Dr Julie Barnes, CSO of BioWisdom, said: "There is an urgent need for a greater understanding of the mechanisms underpinning serious adverse events associated with pharmaceutical products. At BioWisdom, our market-leading technology, Sofia, SRS and Omniviz, is being used extensively in this area to support decision making across the industry and is providing insight into mechanisms of drug liability."
